Universo Ferrant
2024
Museo Patio Herreriano

This publication reflects the themes explored in the exhibition Universo Ferrant, which takes inspiration from Ángel Ferrant’s 1948 mobile Constellation. The piece can be understood as an allegory of the cultural sphere itself, where multiple elements intertwine to form a network of connections in which Ferrant’s name orbits alongside other figures in the artistic constellation. A sculptor, draughtsman, educator, and writer, Ángel Ferrant (Madrid, 1890–1961) remains a key presence in shaping the aesthetic modernity of twentieth-century Spain.

Drawing on works and archival materials from the permanent collections of the Asociación Colección Arte Contemporáneo and the Naturgy Energy Group Collection, Universo Ferrant highlights an idea Ferrant expressed in one of his so-called school banners: that one’s own work gains deeper meaning when understood in dialogue with that of others.
